PIPA is an alliance of independent Australian publishers that was formed in December 2021 and has an exemption from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) to collective bargain with the digital platform giants Google and Meta, formerly known as Facebook.

PIPA was fortunate to have the support of Frontier Technology, an initiative by the Minderoo Foundation, founded by Dr Andrew Forrest and Nicola Forrest.

PIPA publishers reflect the media diversity in Australia, representing small independent publishers coast to coast from Sydney to Perth, rural and regional, metropolitan, national, multicultural, LGBTIQ+ communities, to promote arts, science, and culture, and tell stories about issues often neglected by multinational and national media organisations.
